Building Stock Analysis

Many issues of societal relevance are connected to the building stock. Housing is essential for us and buildings have been a source of wealth generation and inequalities. The building stock also uses energy and resources contributing to climate change.

My research has focused on understanding the building stock using various registers and other building-specific sources of information. The analyses of the building stock have been used for various research projects and decision support for various Swedish authorities. Specifically, I will be touching upon the fields of machine learning, energy poverty, segregation and investments in disadvantaged areas.

This lecture will provide an overview of the Swedish building stock and an outlook on what is to come. I will go into what it is to make building stock analyses useful for decision-makers, and I will also discuss how building stock analyses can be made useful for researchers in other academic disciplines.
