Abstract

Olivia Nedergaard presents her ongoing research on the Scandinavian women’s movements (of the 1970s) as cultural movements. Through analyses of texts, poetry, and images from various journals, pamphlets, and other printed materials, the project illuminates the relationship between culture and politics/activism within the movements. The project sheds new light on the women’s movements, whose literary and cultural aspects have not been extensively described in previous research, and at the same time challenges the notion of what can actually be called (women’s) literature, given that the material in question can largely be described as “functional literature.”
