Presentation

Since 2021, I have been a doctoral student at Malmö University, admitted through the Research School for Professionals in Social Services (FYS). I pursue my doctoral studies on a part-time basis, while also working within the Disability department at Huddinge Municipality.

My professional background is as a supervisor and method specialist within the social services’ operational units. For several years, I have worked to support and train staff, particularly in methods related to low arousal approach, promoting participation in daily life, and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC). My work as a method specialist focuses on creating the conditions for staff to carry out their work effectively, enabling service users to live their lives with autonomy, influence, and social participation.

Research within FYS aims to be practice-oriented and to contribute to the development of social services, with the goal of improving service users’ living conditions and opportunities. My research focuses on how communication between staff and residents functions in the everyday life of somatic care units in elderly care, particularly where there are communicative challenges. The aim is to highlight these challenges and thereby contribute to a deeper understanding that can inform future development work, with a focus on effective communication between staff and residents in eldercare.
