Presentation

I am a doctoral student at the Department of Criminology, and my dissertation focuses on intimate partner violence among young people, with a particular focus on perpetrators.

The purpose of my dissertation is to increase knowledge about adolescent intimate partner violence in general, and about young perpetrators of intimate partner violence specifically.

The dissertation project examines attitudes toward intimate partner violence, its prevalence, frequency, and severity, as well as developmental pathways for young perpetrators of intomate partner violence.

The aim is to contribute to a deeper understanding of the emergence and manifestations of intimate partner violence in young relationships, and ultimately to improve the conditions for effective prevention efforts.

My analyses are based on longitudinal data from the "Malmö Individual and Neighbourhood Development Study (MINDS)", "The Peterborough Adolescent and Young Adult Development Study (PADS+)" and qualitative interviews.

My dissertation project is part of the research environment “When Violence Becomes an Acceptable Action Alternative”, a collaboration between researchers at our department, researchers from the Institute of Criminology at the University of Cambridge, and researchers from the Department of Sociology at the University of Cologne. The project is led by Marie Torstensson Levander and Per-Olof Wikström.

Since November 2025, I have been an affiliated researcher at the Centre for Analytic Criminology, University of Cambridge
