About the project

Falls, malnutrition, poor oral health and pressure ulcers are common among older people in nursing homes. As the number of older people is expected to increase, these four health risks will increase. Prosenior is a research project that focuses on improving the quality of life of older people receiving municipal health care by increasing knowledge about preventive nursing care and improving the quality of nursing care regarding the four health risks. Previous research has focused on co-creating an educational intervention for health professionals to enhance preventive care around the four health risks. However, involving only health professionals is not sufficient for a sustainable intervention. This project, therefore, focuses on involving the elderly and their relatives to co-create an intervention to prevent the four health risks and to test and evaluate the intervention. Senior Alert, a national quality register focusing on controlling the four health risks among older people, is used as a framework for the project.
