About the project
If I want to capture my research project with a few key words, they would be: mathematics education, pre-service teachers, translanguaging, code-switching, language diversity, and multilingualism. My research project aims to investigate how mathematics teacher education prepares pre-service teachers for teaching mathematics to multilingual students.
By addressing the research question, “How can teacher education prepare pre-service teachers for teaching in multilingual mathematics classrooms?”, this study contributes to discussions on making mathematics education accessible for all students.
The core idea is to approach and utilize language as a resource in the mathematics classroom, promoting translanguaging practices where multiple languages are used inseparably to enhance the epistemological understanding of mathematics among multilingual students.
