Everyone has the right to high-quality palliative care – regardless of diagnosis, place of residence, or care context. The PaCE research group aims to promote the quality of palliative care by developing knowledge about care processes, leadership, and implementation – from early identification of palliative care needs and integration of palliative care to end-of-life care and support for the bereaved.

Our Research

The PaCE research group conducts studies covering the entire palliative care process – from early identification of palliative care needs and integration of palliative care to end-of-life care and bereavement support. Our aim is to promote well-being when life is threatened by serious illness, ensuring conditions for the final stage by addressing patients’ physical, psychological, social, and existential needs, as well as the support needs of their families. We welcome interprofessional and interdisciplinary projects and encourage studies that connect to theories and concepts within palliative care, person-centred care, and leadership.

Our research seeks to ensure equitable access to high-quality palliative care. We apply broad methodological approaches, from registry and medical record data to qualitative interviews and observational studies. The results will provide a basis for practical improvements and evidence-based interventions that strengthen the quality of palliative care – regardless of where it is delivered.
