Practical information for new professors who are invited to Vice-Chancellor Mia Rönnmar's ceremonial dinner and to participate in the professorial inauguration during Malmö University's annual ceremony.

How to prepare for the professorial inauguration


Registration for events during the celebration week

As a new professor, you are welcome to bring up to 10 guests with you to the Annual Academic Ceremony and the subsequent celebration, free of charge. Invitations and registrations for all events will be sent to you by email.

Dress code: Dark suit. Your guests are expected to dress smartly.

Hat or laurel wreath?

You will wear your doctoral hat, or laurel wreath, and robe during the ceremony. Contact your faculty representative if you want to order a laurel wreath.

Mandatory rehearsal

A mandatory rehearsal is held digitally for all professors the week before the ceremony. The rehearsal includes a briefing and time for questions. The date is set in consultation with the relevant professors.

Vernissage

All professors are invited to unveil their illustrated professor portraits at a vernissage in the Orkanen atrium at 15:00 on Friday, 9 October.

Photos and film

The University will photograph and livestream the ceremony via our website. Documenting these activities is part of our public assignment, and public interest is therefore a legal requirement.
