Welcome to Yujing Li´s docent lecture "Building a Sustainable Future: A Research Journey from Indoor Environments to Sustainable Building".

Yujing will talk about her research path from investigating mould and moisture problems in buildings, to a more holistic approach to the indoor environment, and finally to sustainable building practices through systems thinking. She will also share her vision for the future of building and how we can build for a sustainable future.

The presentation will be in English. Refreshments will be provided following the lecture.

From shelters to complex structures, buildings have evolved to provide not just safety, but also comfort and convenience. Today’s modern buildings are designed to provide a suitable indoor environment for people to perform all kinds of activities. It has become so convenient that modern people spend more than 90% of their lifetime indoors. However, building and building sectors consume high amount of materials and energy, which lead to great climate impact. The great challenge lies in front of us: How should we build for a sustainable future.
