Abstract
This roundtable is organized as part of the 2025 Nordic Journal of Migration Research Workshop. It will bring together leading migration scholars from different disciplines and geographical areas to discuss pressing issues in migration studies in the Nordic countries and beyond.
Dalia Abdelhady will open the discussion with a commentary on the rightward shift in politics and its impact on migration policies and discourses. Zachary Whyte will illustrate some of Dalia's points with an overview of the debate around Danish refugee policies. Similarly, Kristín Loftsdóttir will talk about the escalation of negative discourses regarding asylum seekers in Iceland. Finally, Pieter Bevelander will close the roundtable presenting the diversity survey led by MIM and how it can enhance migration studies in Sweden.
