Fred – konsert till minne av fredsdagen 1945

In May 1945, peace was declared after the Second World War. The streets were filled with celebrations, festivity, and joy. We will perform, 80 years to the day, a commemoration in the form of a concert. We remember a day of happiness and euphoria in the name of peace, while also reflecting, through music, on the gravity, loss, and pain that wartime also brings.

In memory of those who perished in brutal massacres and trench warfare, the Malmö Academic Choir and Orchestra will perform Memorial to Lidice by Bohuslav Martinů and Vaughan Williams’ Pastoral Symphony. As a contrasting light in the darkness and a reminder of peace, we will also perform the theme from Schindler’s List – the film that tells the story of industrialist Oskar Schindler who saved 1,300 people from the Holocaust. Through music, the memories, filled with both joy and sorrow, are kept alive.
