My research is about Zirconium oxide (zirconia)dental implants that are used to replace missing teeth and to restore function and esthetics. Dental implants made of zirconia are a relatively new treatment alternative compared to titanium equivalents. My research topic focuses on the clinical outcome and mechanical properties of different zirconia dental implant designs (i.e. one- and two-piece implants, and various implant diameters, lengths, and surface roughness techniques).
