Presentation

Vallberg Roth conducts research in didaktik, teaching, curricula, assessment, and documentation, with a focus on preschool, the preschool class, and the early years of compulsory school. Between 2016 and 2021, I served as scientific leader for two research and development programmes on teaching in preschool, carried out in collaboration between 18 municipalities, Ifous, and Malmö University. Furthermore, from 2021 to 2023, I was the scientific leader for the ULF network "Didaktik Modelling in Preschool", which was conducted in collaboration between three educational authorities and Malmö University. ULF is an abbreviation for Education, Learning and Research. Between 2024 and 2026, I am participating in the ULF network FAMULI, which stands for "Multivocal Didaktik Co-analysis of Music and Literacy Practices in Preschool". The concept of “Multivocal didakatik” offers a way to interweave my research interests with the collaborative research.

Since 2024, I have been the scientific leader of the research group "Didaktik Studies" at the Department of Childhood, Education and Society (BUS). I am also a member of the working group for the framework curriculum within the national professional development programme. In summary, I have experience as a preschool teacher and am actively involved in teacher and research education, not least within the national research school focusing on “Play Responsive Teaching in Early Childhood Education for Social and Cultural Sustainability” (PRESEC-SCS). Examples of my publications include an article in the Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research titled "What may characterise teaching in preschool? The written descriptions of Swedish preschool teachers and managers in 2016" (6,743 views), and one in Pedagogisk forskning i Sverige titled "Curricula for Young Children: Developments from the Mid-19th Century to Today" (8,370 views). I have received the CiCeas Best Publication Award, together with Linda Palla, and was awarded Malmö University's Collaboration Award in 2024. In terms of research impact, I have, according to Google Scholar in 2025, been cited 2,327 times.
