Presentation

I am a Senior Lecturer and Reader in Education. My teaching focuses on leadership, development work, curriculum theory, science theory and methodology. I teach on the vocational teacher training programmes, the VAL programme and work-integrated teacher training. I have previously taught on several teacher training programmes at various Swedish universities. I am involved in developing work-based learning (VFU), a central part of teacher education.

My research is driven by my curiosity about everyday educational practices and how these can be understood through different theoretical perspectives. My research interests include curricula, classroom management, the socio-material aspects of teaching, and international comparisons. I often use unexpected empirical material, such as films, advertisements or cookbooks, to approach educational issues and develop new approaches to understand teaching. Currently, I am collaborating with colleagues on a project examining lobbying in Swedish schools, focusing particularly on the role of principals. In parallel, I am developing a model for analysing and understanding educational situations which could become relevanta in teacher training. I have experience in academic leadership, including serving as general conference chair for the NERA conference in 2024, one of the largest educational research meetings in the Nordic region.

I am also involved in scientific discourse as one of the editors-in-chief of Pedagogisk forskning i Sverige (Educational Research in Sweden), a journal based at Malmö University. I have previously been a guest editor for special issues and a member of the editorial board for international journals, providing me with insight into the opportunities and challenges of the publishing process.

For me, teaching and research are mutually enriching processes. I strive to create learning environments where students and teachers interact on an equal footing, and where education becomes meaningful for everyone involved.
