Presentation

My name is Susann Porter, and I am a Associate Senior Lecture in Health Sciences at Malmö University, where I teach in the nursing program. I am affiliated with the research center: Centre for Work Life and Evaluation Studies (CTA).

I am privileged to conduct research within an intervention study, developed in collaboration with colleagues from Malmö University, Stockholm University, and Lund University. Together, we designed a digital training program for municipal politicians responsible for elderly care. In 2024, politicians from across Sweden were invited to participate in the intervention. Data collection was carried out through a survey in which participants assessed their knowledge of the organizational and social work environment for various professional groups within elderly care both before the intervention and at two follow-up points afterwards.

This intervention study builds on a previous project in which I conducted interviews with municipal politicians across Sweden to explore their health literacy regarding mental health, with a focus on their understanding of the organizational and social work environment for professionals working in elderly care. A total of 41 politicians responsible for elderly care participated in that study.

Prior to my current position, I worked for six years at Lund University as a research assistant and doctoral student. I earned my PhD in Health Sciences in 2019, with a specialization in mental health.
