About the project
In the event of traffic disruptions in train traffic, waiting passengers are informed via announcements and information signs. In this way, both the visually and hearing impaired are given access to the necessary real-time information. In stressful situations or in situations with increased noise levels, this information can be difficult for people to absorb in a good way. This is particularly troublesome when changing trains, platforms, or modes of transport, for example to replacement traffic. We want to investigate how a modern mobile web application, based on the Swedish Transport Administration's My Trains (Sv. Mina tåg), can be designed to increase accessibility to real-time information for passengers with visual or hearing impairments.
The project has three deliverables:
- A prototype of a mobile web application based on My Trains developed in consultation with users in the relevant user groups.
- A scientific publication that describes how a mobile web application can be designed to provide the visually and hearing impaired with sufficient information in the event of a traffic disruption.
- A report to the Swedish Transport Administration summarizing the above deliverables.
