About the project

Despite advancements in treatments and care, cardiovascular disease continues to be the leading cause of death worldwide. One important step in acute care of patients with Myocardial Infarction (MI) is that the continuum of care is working in all steps, from symptom to treatment. Ambulance nurses have an important role in the care of these patients as early recognition and treatment is the key to survival.

The aim of this project is to explore ambulance nurses’ experiences using cardiology guidelines, to develop an instrument measuring factors influencing adherence to guidelines and further to investigate their clinical decision-making when caring for patients with acute chest pain.

The knowledge generated within the field can enhance prehospital care for patients with acute chest pain.
