Open conversation #5

The changing geopolitical situation, as well as challenges like COVID, climate change and threats of human rights, have meant that universities need to address internationalization in a somewhat new way. As a consequence, we now often talk about – responsible internationalisation. But what we mean by this relatively new term is not clear.

In this "open conversation" we will discuss questions like:

  • What does responsible internationalization mean?
  • In what ways does it support or clash with academic freedom?
  • Who decides what the responsibility in internationalization is?
  • Should there be lists of friends and enemies?
  • Could responsible internationalization mean academic boycott?
  • Who makes that decision?
  • Are universities at risk?
