Åsa Alftberg holds a PhD (2012, Lund University) and is associate professor in social work at Malmö University. My research concerns ageing and elder care with perspectives that include older people, family carers and formal care staff. Other research areas are disability and ableism. I often use ethnographic methods. I teach mainly at the Bachelor Programme in Social Work and the course Ageing and Social Work. Current research projects are "Being an older person with drug addiction – a qualitative study of the living conditions of a growing group" and "Expectations and responsibility: education of family carers who care for a relative with dementia."
