Åsa Delblanc, PhD

I am an Associate Professor in Education with a PhD in Pedagogy. My research focuses on preschool and early childhood education, particularly on issues of equity, democracy, and the compensatory mission of education. I am especially interested in how literature, language, and aesthetic experiences can foster children’s participation, learning, and well-being.

My work combines sociocultural and poststructural perspectives, often drawing on theories of power, norms, and Bildung. I have published on themes such as literacy, inclusion, multilingualism, and the role of reading in preschool. A recurring concern in my research is how framework factors and institutional conditions shape educators’ practices and children’s opportunities.

In addition to my research, I am engaged in collaborative projects with preschools and schools, applying action research approaches to bridge theory and practice. I also teach within preschool teacher education, with a particular focus on scientific theory, didactics, and literacy in early childhood education.
