Presentation
Bengt Götrick is senior consultant and professor of Orofacial medicine. Since 2019, he has been assigned as head of Section 4 at the Faculty of Odontology. Section 4 covers the subjects Oral radiology, Oral diagnostics, Orofacial medicine, Orthodontics, Pedodontics and Community dentistry. Bengt Götrick's research is primarily in the fields of Physiology and Pharmacology. It was early focused on studying the autonomic nerves that regulate the function of the salivary glands, and how to help people who suffer from dry mouth. Lack of saliva often causes problems with eating and speaking and increases the risk of diseases in the oral cavity. Bengt Götrick's research is also about evaluating the benefit of antibiotic prophylaxis in dentistry. Bengt Götrick is both regionally and nationally involved in the work of formulating guidelines for the use of antibiotics in dentistry. Other areas of research are drug treatment of the oral mucosal disease oral lichen planus and bleeding tendency in connection with oral surgery in patients who are taking anticoagulants.
