Presentation
I defended my dissertation (PhD) in media and communication studies at Uppsala University in 2002. In August 2018, I was employed at the Faculty of Education and Society, to serve as a vice dean focusing research and postgraduate education. Since February 2024 I am the Dean of the faculty.
In my research, I have mainly been interested in internet-based media. Among other things, I have studied:
- internet and youth political engagement and activism (2003-2009)
- production of online culture for children and young people (2009-2013)
- reader comments in online newspapers (2012-2017)
- elderly and digital media (ongoing)
In addition to the internet-related studies, I have also carried out research on elite sports and mediatization as well as media and celebrities.
My research results are published in journals such as: Javnost - The Public; Media, Culture & Society; New Media & Society; European Journal of Communication.
