The research group Pedagogical philosophical studies of childhood, education and society makes for a working collective meeting regularly for seminars where they explore questions that falls within the domain of the philosophy of education, theoretical pedagogy, and the history of educational ideas.

Our Research

The main focus of the research group is on thematic work that explores different dimensions of the pedagogical field of research from various philosophical and theoretical perspectives. This would concern the exploration of the academic boundaries of pedagogy, and it would involve the identification of different intersection points linking theoretical pedagogy with other bordering disciplines.

Seminars

Examples of thematic areas explored include educational storytelling and fiction, epistemological boundary work, and the contested relationship between artistic research and educational questions. The group meets monthly and arranges a higher-level seminar in pedagogy once per semester.

Guests

Besides working meetings based on close readings of texts authored either by members of the group or by relevant figures in the field, the higher seminars offer an excellent opportunity to invite guests who are (and have been) central to the formation of the field. Invited guests include Andrea R. English (University of Edinburgh), Marianna Papastephanou (University of Cyprus), Fred Moten (NYU) and Stefano Harney (Academy of Media Arts Cologne). Members of the group span from doctoral students, adjuncts, senior lecturers, to full professors.
