Do you have experience of Muslim life in Malmö?

We welcome people from Malmö's muslim population who have experience of the Muslim community of Malmö before 1990, to participate in a workshop where we discuss and suggest important places and events related to the history of Malmö Muslims until 1990. The workshop is opened with a lecture, held by Simon Sorgenfrei on the history of muslims in Malmö and Sweden.

If you would like to contribute your experience and make suggestions for locations for the map guide, you are welcome to attend the workshop. Your experience and knowledge are needed. We welcome all members of Malmö's Muslim population who have experience of the life of Malmö's Muslims before 1990. Registration is required.

15.30 Mingle session with med coffee/tea and sandwich
16.00 Welcome and presentation of the project
16.15 Lecture by professor Simon Sorgenfrei: History of Muslims in Sweden and Malmö
17.15 Small groups – talk about Muslim life and organisation in Malmö before 1990
18.30–19.00 Workshop ends

About the host

The Institute for Studies in Malmö's History (IMH) is a center for urban history research. With a particular focus on Malmö, we research the role of cities in history, changes in urban life and how urban identity is produced and spread.
