This spring, Malmö University will establish a Societal Impact Lab in partnership with Swedbank's Owner Foundation Skåne. The lab, which is a one-year idea development programme, has the objective of harnessing the University's research for sustainable long-term societal benefit to tackle societal challenges.

For researchers, it is an opportunity to, for one year, dedicate 20 per cent of their time to focus on idea development, counselling and methodological support, based on their own research results.

"Research utilisation is important in order to ensure that scientific results are put into practice for the benefit of society as a whole. It's also a way to attract research funding that promotes excellent research that meets the challenges of today and in the future," says Charlotte Ahlgren Moritz, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Collaboration and Innovation.

Malmö University's Societal Impact Lab is financed through a donation, partly by Swedbank's Owner Foundation Skåne. The work will be led by Mau Innovation, in close collaboration with the Forum for Social Innovation Sweden, Mau Holding AB, and Swedbank.

The lab will start its first programme in autumn 2024. More information will be available during the spring.
