El Häkkinen have been a doctoral student at the Department of Urban Studies since September 2021. Their research project can be placed within the research field of organisation studies, which is about how inequality is organised within the municipal home care work and how the inequality affects those who work as assistant nurses and care assistans here. The latter concerns, among other things, the feelings and emotions that inequality gives rise to in the home care workers. The inequality will be studied from an intersectional perspective with a focus on class, gender, race/ethnicity and sexuality. Theoretically they are inspired by the sociologist and organisational scholar Joan Acker's theory of organizations having inequality regimes. El have studied gender studies and human rights at the undergraduate level and have a master's degree in leadership and organisation.
