Presentation
Jakob Dittmar researches on and teaches about various aspects in comics, character design, and identity representations. Also on collective memory and cultural heritage. He combines traditional academic approaches with artistic research in his comics related work as well as his work in and on puppetry.
Academic background: Studied British Studies, Religion, History of Arts, and Sociology. Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, Germany (1992-1998), Drama and Theology. Exeter University, GB (1994-5) M.A. in British Studies on re-vitalisation of Manchester-Castlefield (1998) Ph.D. in Arts of Science on industrial history and heritage, collective memory and conservation in relation to town planning and marketing. Focussing on Zeche Zollverein, Schacht XII, and Duisburg Nord / Meiderich. GH Universität Essen, Germany (2002) Habil. in Media Studies on the analysis of comics and on en-passant-media. TU Berlin (2007). Venia Legendi in Media Studies (2008). Docent in Medie och kommunikationsvetenskap (2014).
