Magnus Englander, Ph.D. is Associate Professor at Malmö University and Associate Editor for the Journal of Phenomenological Psychology. His research is grounded in phenomenological psychology as a human science. At Malmö University, his work is situated within the interdisciplinary research context of Health and Society. Englander’s research is theoretical and includes topics such as the theory of science, qualitative research methodology, psychology, and psychopathology. The overall purpose of his research is to further the theoretical development of qualitative research methodology as well as education of the reflection of empathy inherent within professional practice. Lately, Englander has researched phenomena such as, 1) empathy and 2) general knowledge claims in qualitative research. The research findings have been applied to pedagogical, professional, and research contexts. He is the editor of Phenomenology and the Social Context of Psychiatry (Bloomsbury, 2018), co-editor of Empathy and Ethics (Rowman & Littlefield, forthcoming 2022), and author of multiple articles and book chapters.
