The Institute for Studies in Malmö's History (IMH) and the Institute for Urban Research (IUR) are pleased to invite you to the Urban Transformations and Urban Histories conference.

About

The point of departure of Urban Transformations and Urban Histories is the present and historical processes and power conflicts of cities’ changing economic, political and spatial circumstances. To expand and deepen these perspectives, the purpose of the conference is to create interdisciplinary discussions among diverse academic fields, between academia and practitioners in urban planning and cultural heritage and among different professional disciplines.

Submit your paper

The deadline for submitting proposals for presentations, papers, full sessions, or panel discussions is 14 December, 2023. Proposals must be submitted in the form of an abstract 1000–2000 characters (including spacing) long.

The conference will be held in both Swedish and English. In your application, please state in which language you intend to present your contribution.

The Institute for Studies in Malmö's History (IMH) is a centre for urban history research. We examine the role of cities in history, the shifts in urban life and how the identity of cities is shaped and spread.

The Institute for Urban Research (IUR) seeks solutions to urban societal challenges. IUR investigates social, economic and environmental challenges arising from processes of urbanisation.
