I am Senior Lecturer in Education at Malmö University. I am a qualified and certified teacher for the later years of compulsory school and upper-secondary school in civics/social science and religious studies. As of 1 January 2026, I serve as Vice Dean of education at the Faculty of Education and Society.

Between 2019 and June 2025, I served as Head of the Department of Childhood, Education and Society (BUS) at Malmö University.

I primarily teach and supervise within the international master’s programme in Educational Theory, but I also give lectures in the preschool teacher, primary teacher, and secondary teacher education programmes. Together with a colleague, I also offer the standalone advanced-level course The Complexity of the Role of the Teacher (in Swedish). My teaching focuses mainly on the role of the teacher, the teaching profession in society, value-related issues, and political perspectives on schools, education, and teachers.

With a background in education and political science, my research is situated at the intersection between the philosophy of education and political theory, with a focus on the ideas and practices of teaching, the professionalisation of teachers, and the relationship between education and politics in general. I am particularly interested in how political ideas, reforms, and societal expectations shape the conditions and legitimacy of teaching – for example through governmental policy documents, union strategies, and educational policy debates on responsibility, autonomy, and knowledge. In several of my publications, I draw on Hannah Arendt’s political thinking to explore how her ideas on action, plurality, and responsibility can contribute to contemporary understandings of the role of teachers. A recurring theme in my work is also how education can be understood as a space where generations meet, are challenged, and come into being – with questions of formation, responsibility, and democracy as central points of departure.
