Project description

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is a chronic condition that can have a significant impact on health of young people Living with IBD means not only physical stress but also effects on mental and sexual health. This application is focused on young people with IBD aged 18-35 and their health in a national context and from an inter-professional perspective.

This is the second part of an application submitted in 2020. Part I, focusing on an international context, was successfully funded, and now a randomized controlled trial (RTC) entitled “Effect of nutrition on disease activity and quality of life in Crohn's disease patients treated with biological therapy” is ongoing in Zagreb, Croatia in 2023. Part II will be performed in a national context.

The goal of the platform is to contribute to a more equitable health of young people with IBD, by approaching the problem from different perspectives through a national context. By increasing knowledge and understanding of how the disease affects patients’ lives, we aim to mitigate the negative impacts on the young person’s physical, mental, and sexual health.
