About the project
As contemporary cities invest more and more in sustainable mobility and public transport, the role of transit spaces as public places has been acknowledged. However, what makes a transit place lively and pleasant? Why are some bus stations and bus stops better liked and frequented by passengers and residents while others fall neglected? What do planners and designers need to consider when planning attractive bus stations and bus stops, beyond the requirements for accessibility and safety?
This project addresses these questions through an investigation of selected bus stations and bus stops in Malmö. The research is expected to assist municipality and public transport providers in the work of developing safe, pleasant and attractive bus stops and bus stations for all social groups. Project participants include Hoai Anh Tran (project leader) and Victoria Sjöstedt from SLU.
