About the project
Today, many new schools are being built and there is a need for new learning environments that can meet future needs. In this context, the project "School architecture of future pedagogies" studies the relationship between pedagogy and architecture in policy and design processes of school architecture and learning environments. As school architecture both limits and enables activities, the design is of great importance. However, learning environments are not just physical spaces but are affected by imaginaries of future pedagogics and so-called “selective traditions” in school subjects. This, in turn, has consequences for how visions about teaching and learning are made and therefore important to acknowledge in policy and design processes.
