About the project
This study concerns visual arts education at secondary school. The Swedish national evaluation of the subject of visual arts education demonstrates that analogue image production is a dominating feature in visual arts education, and that teachers’ conception of the subject still has to do with creating art through free expression.
The overarching aim of this study is to challenge the hegemonic traditions, discourses, and educational norms in visual arts education. Furthermore, the aim is to critically examine norms and traditions regarding visual arts education through teaching materials in visual arts education, and teachers’ use of teaching materials in the classroom.
