Our Research

The researchers gathered in K3 heritage research group are interested in the heritage's role in contemporary society. Our interests range from questions about concepts and definitions of art, heritage and culture and their political, social, economic and governance issues. Looking at heritage institutions and professional and amateur users from different angles, we are also interested in the questions of digitalisation and AI as well as uses of heritage in its diverse forms. In our different projects, we use heritage as a resource for creating new knowledge as well as study the ways in which heritage is organised, collected and stored in different contexts.

Our research group is a cluster of smaller and larger, financed and non-financed research that is strong on collaborations with external actors. The aim of the group is to provide an inclusive environment for discussing broadly defined questions about all manner of issues and topics related to heritage. Several of the group members use creative methods, like drawings, collage, making and co-creation with participants. We come from diverse disciplinary backgrounds - media studies, art history, cultural studies and digital humanities. The group gathers for monthly seminars to discuss ongoing work and develop new approaches.
