Presentation

Dr. Elizabeth Ashley Fox-Jensen is a designer, lecturer, and researcher whose work connects digital humanities, media, interactive communication, and cultural heritage studies. As a Lecturer and Co-Program Director in Design at the School of Arts and Communication (K3), she examines the intersections of design, technology, and information systems with a focus on accessibility, sustainable digital infrastructure, and democratic discourse.

Her PhD in Digital Humanities from the University of London (2025) established frameworks for accessible digital cataloguing that integrate design thinking, information architecture, and participatory research. As Principal Investigator for the Deepfake Democracy Project, she investigates AI-generated medias impact on democratic processes through interdisciplinary collaboration with computer science, global political studies, media communication studies, and interaction design.

Education Dr. Fox-Jensen holds a PhD in Digital Humanities from the University of London (2021–2025), with a dissertation titled "Designing an Accessible and Sustainable Digital Catalogue Raisonné: Interdisciplinary Approaches and the Case of Ted Stamm." She earned an MFA from Parsons School of Design (1998–2000) and a BFA from Memphis College of Art (1993–1997). Additionally, she has completed 21.5 ECTS credits in pedagogical qualifications at Malmö University (2020–2025), covering collaborative learning, inclusive education, and doctoral supervision.

Research Interests Her methodological interests center on participatory action research, research-through-design as scholarly inquiry, and frameworks for interdisciplinary collaboration. Theoretically, she engages with platform studies, infrastructure critique, accessibility as social justice, and sustainable alternatives to extractive technology systems. Her applied research addresses digital cataloguing, AI content detection, accessible information architecture, and visual communication for complex information.

Teaching and Other Responsibilities At K3, Dr. Fox-Jensen teaches across multiple programs including Graphic Design, Media and Communication Studies, Interaction Design, Product Design, and Design for Engineering at Bachelor and Masters levels. She coordinates international study trips, leads interdepartmental collaborative projects, and supervises Bachelor and Masters theses. She also maintains research mentorship partnerships with the University of Chicago and Hunter College (CUNY), guiding students in art history, curatorial studies, archival studies, and digital humanities.

Current Projects As Principal Investigator, she leads the Deepfake Democracy Project, an interdisciplinary VIP research initiative examining AI-generated media's impact on democratic discourse, epistemic trust, and public deliberation. She serves as Lead Editor of the Ted Stamm Catalogue Raisonné, developing a born-digital catalogue raisonné that establishes new methodological frameworks for accessible, sustainable, and participatory art historical documentation.

Awards & Recognition She was recently nominated for a STINT fellowship to UCLA for Autumn 2026 and selected as an external examiner (censor) for 2026–2030 in Interactive Media, Information Science, and Cultural Heritage Studies by the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science (UFM). Her work has been recognized with the Danish Best Designed Book Award, and she has secured multiple artistic and research grants to support her interdisciplinary scholarship.

Service & Outreach Dr. Fox-Jensen actively engages in conference organizing (e.g., STS Malmö, Digital History), peer reviews for journals, book chapters, and manuscripts, and professional association activities. She delivers invited lectures and facilitates workshops on accessible design and digital humanities. She serves on the Advisory Council for The Greater Sum Foundation (NGO), providing expertise in design thinking and participatory methodologies to support the organizations strategic development in education, wellness, and community building.
