Kursinnehåll
Kursen behandlar hur sjukdom och hälsa relaterar till samhälle och kultur. Den utgår från aktuella teoretiska begrepp och perspektiv inom medicinsk antropologi. Kursen innehåller teman som hur vi kan förstå symtom och diagnoser samt placebo- och noceboeffekter, medikalisering, kulturella syndrom och variation vad gäller medicinska modeller i världen. Kursen berör också hur hälsa är ojämnt distribuerad i ett samhälle utifrån sociala hierarkier och hur medicinska fenomen relaterar till genus, sexualitet, etnicitet, politik och teknologi.
Syftet med kursen är att främja reflektion och kritisk analys av medicinska fenomen i samhället.
